For the past four years Alabama Parrot Rescue has been a large part of our life and we are proud of the accomplishments made along the way. Over 100 birds have found a better life in a new home with families that care for and about their wellbeing. Parrots in the Park has been an amazing journey, with just a hand full of participants on that first day to regular media coverage by all three local TV networks and a host of print publications. These events were not just a social gathering, but an educational experience for everyone who happened to stop by at one of our many outings.
It is with great sorrow that we must now step away from the spotlight, excitement and exhilaration that has become synonymous with APR. Effective immediately, we will discontinue the admission of new arrivals. All current residents of APR will remain in our care and we will make every effort to place them in the best possible homes. All those who are not placed before we are scheduled to move will be transported to our new location and we will continue to search for suitable homes there.
We are thankful to all the people who have contributed to the success of this endeavor. Without the help of our many volunteers, foster families, generous contributors and the many friends we have made along the way, none of this could have been possible. We know that this announcement is going to leave a tremendous void in the resources available to families who can no longer care for their feathered companions and hope that there is someone who has the ability and commitment to fill that void.
Alabama Parrot Rescue is a private, non-commercial organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of domesticated parrots. We strive to correct behavioral issues of birds that may not possess the proper socialization skills, so that they can live out their lives as an active member of a loving family.
